Summer activities Wilderness Acupuncture 2011

Dear Fellow travellers, we have some nice events coming up starting after this weekend. These experiences will help you to deepen your knowledge on the 5 elements. This is a beautiful opportunity to learn about the interrelationship of the elements in a wilderness setting.

At the end of August I will be back in New Zealand. As a farmer, a 5-element practitioner and an Elf I am deeply concerned about the state of the wilderness, the planet & its people’s <not only the human species>. It is my wish to bring my expertise into New Zealand politics, and so I will run for parliament this year. If you are willing and able to gift ideas, expertise or money to this effort it will be greatly appreciated.

In the meantime I invite you to bring the insights on the elements, the officials and the spirit of the points into the world, as a way the enhance harmony between humans and the natural world.

Bless you all, David Ford

2011 Oregon Raft Trips with David Ford, L.Ac.

June 26 (evening)-30th: Grande Ronde River:
During this 4-day trip you will float through a beautiful section of NE Oregon. This 35 mile trip takes you through a deep canyon from Minam to Troy, OR. This section of river is graded 2+, which translates to a few easier rapids, and wonderful floating in between. During the day you will spend 3-4 hours floating and the rest of the time exploring the area around camp, including one day where you will camp in the same spot for 2 nights allowing deeper exploration of the surrounding region. Teaching will occur while on the river, in camp around the campfire, on short hikes around camp, and through personal journal writing and internal exploration. The focus of the trip will be on learning the reflection of the five elements from nature back into our patients in clinic, and illuminating the names of the points (spirit of the points) on the meridians through observing the natural surroundings.

July 2nd-4th: The Lower Deschutes in Central Oregon:
During this 3-day trip over the 4th of July weekend you will float from Macks Canyon Campground to the junction of the Deschutes and the Columbia River. This section of river is graded 3+, which translates to mostly mellow floating and a number of rapids towards the end of the trip which are considered of moderate challenge (i.e. you won’t fall out of the boat, but the splash will likely get you wet). Just as on the Grande Ronde you will spend 3-4 hours on the water with time in camp for teaching, exploration and group and personal learning. The focus of the trip will be on learning the reflection of the five elements from nature back into our patients in clinic, and illuminating the names of the points (spirit of the points) on the meridians through observing the natural surroundings.
For both trips you will need to bring: appropriate clothing (we will provide a list), sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent (we can provide), personal journal, colored pens/pencils and personal toiletries and snacks.
The trip includes: All raft gear, car shuttle, food, group camping gear, instructional material.

2011 Alaska Wilderness Trips with David Ford, L.Ac.

This trip is geared toward professionals and the ‘lay’ person- patients, families, and those just interested in learning more about the five elements of Chinese Medicine.

There are 3 different  options:
-August 11th(evening)-14th: 3 days exploring Lemesurier Island Cost: $500
-August 17th(evening)-21st: 5 days exploring Lemesurier Island Cost: $880
-August 11th(evening)-21st: 10 days exploring Lemesurier Island Cost: $1600

Explore the Five Elements of Chinese Medicine in Glacier Bay, AK.
During this trip you will be transported by boat from Gustavus, AK to Lemesurier Island which is a 14 square mile island at the mouth of Glacier Bay. David Ford has a cabin sitting on the shores of Icy Straight; often he is blessed with waking to humpback whales playing in the kelp beds and sea lions passing by throughout the day.
Throughout the day you will spend time discussing the five elements of Chinese Medicine, which helps us understand who we are as individuals. Class will be a mixture of exploring the island surrounding the cabin and time in the cabin discussing ourselves, the nature around us, and the eco-system that exists around us and within us. Through this understanding many find an inner healing and a deeper understanding of how to work with those around us.
The trip cost includes:
-Boat transportation from Gustavus, AK to Lemesurier Island
-Lodging (rustic, but warm lodging on the shores of Icy Straight)
-Food (fresh local wild salmon as the main staple)
-Instruction
-You will need:
-Sleeping bag
